  8.                   Network Policy 1 - SysOps shouldn't kill a message sent by a
  9.                                      user unless that message is deemed dis-
  10.                                      tasteful or is vulgar in nature.
  11.  
  12.                   Network Policy 3 - ANSI messages are no longer allowed in the
  13.                                      BBS Ads conference. The only place where
  14.                                      ANSI should be shared is in the ANSI ART
  15.                                      conference, since users with ANSI
  16.                                      capabilities will most likely be found
  17.                                      there.
  18.  
  19.                   Network Policy 6 - Handles are acceptable in the ADULTS
  20.                                      conference.
  21.  
  22.                   Network Policy 7 - All nodes aren't required to carry the
  23.                                      GNET PICNIC conference, since not all
  24.                                      systems are able to show up. Instead, if
  25.                                      any node would like to have a picnic in
  26.                                      their area, they can setup a conference
  27.                                      for planning it or discuss it in their
  28.                                      regional administration conference.
  29.                                      This is a silly policy, but I thought
  30.                                      I'd mention it anyway... :-)

  46. September 1992    Did a final change to the nodelist. Since it's not really
  47.                   that dependant for the system's to have a node address, I
  48.                   do keep track of things through it, so I made a final one
  49.                   based on the area code and who echo's off of who, so things
  50.                   are now set. (Mike N. and I had done this previously but I
  51.                   never really got around to putting it in the info packet:-)

  53.                   Added a definition for Zone Host. Since we now reach into
  54.                   Canada (thanks Andy!) we needed to define this position in
  55.                   the distribution system.

  57.                   Files added to GNETxxxx.ZIP:

  59.                   GNETZONE.LST - Directory of defined Zones, Superregions and
  60.                                  Regions within the network.

  62. October 1992      I made a change to the conference list (GNETCONF.LST) file
  63.                   to reflect the new changes in the network. Some conferences
  64.                   were dropped from the network, a few were merged into single
  65.                   conferences and a few were renamed.

  67.                   I have also compiled a complete Fido technology nodelist for
  68.                   our new node in South Bend, IN. (Welcome aboard, Rebecca!)
  69.                   Although we are primarily a QWK based network, we do make
  70.                   provisions for systems that don't have access to that form of
  71.                   networking.

  73.                   Also, after a severe hard disk failure, the Network Host went
  74.                   offline for the weekend of October 3rd-4th.

  82. November 1992    I was happy with the packet this month, so there were no
  83.                  changes to the information packet... =)

  85. December 1992    Fixed a typo in the GNETCONF.LST file. The MULTITASKERS
  86.                  conference was listed as MULTASKERS in the area names field
  87.                  for Fido technology. It should be listed as MULTITASKERS.

  89.                  Currently, I've been releasing the Fido technology nodelist
  90.                  only with the month mail packets. As soon as we start adding
  91.                  more nodes to the network, I'll begin releasing a weekly
  92.                  nodelist.
  93.  
  94.                  We're now able to completely accomodate Fido technology into
  95.                  the network. Thanks to Robb Kittredge (author of Qfront)
  96.                  The Vampyre Bar! BBS is now completely capable of handling
  97.                  Fido styled networking.

  99. February 1993    Changes made in POLICY.TXT:

  101.                  Network Policy 5 - After a little incident during January,
  102.                                     it was decided by the Steering Committee
  103.                                     that the Network itself is technically a
  104.                                     "user" and is protected from attack
  105.                                     messages just as the users of the network
  106.                                     themselves are.
  107.  
  108.                  As of February 1st, 1993, the Network Host is now able to
  109.                  hatch the information packet, nodelist and nodediffs into
  110.                  the network via HATCH by Barry Geller. Now, a weekly node-
  111.                  list and nodediff file will be made available to any node
  112.                  who wishes to poll the Network Host (100:100/0). In the
  113.                  future, there may also be provisions made to hatch other
  114.                  files into the network, depending on the demand and amount
  115.                  of Fido technology nodes in the network. All hatch of files
  116.                  into the network will be handled by the Network Host unless
  117.                  special provision is made.

  119.                  Files added to GNETxxxx.ZIP
  120.  
  121.                  GNETAREA.BBS - For Network HUBS, HOSTs and SUPERREGIONALS
  122.                                 that are using Fido technology to perform
  123.                                 echoing. This is a SQAEM compatible listing
  124.                                 of all available conferences, including the
  125.                                 long and short descriptions of each conference.

  127. March 1993       Added a mention in the APPLY.FRM about sending the application
  128.                  to either the applying node's Zone Host or to the Network Host
  129.                  via netmail if Fido technology is preferred for echoing.

  131.                  Added an entry to APPLY.FRM for the type of network technology
  132.                  the applying node wishes (Fido FTS or QWK).

  134.                  There was also a reworking of the superregion listings for the
  135.                  network. Please refer to GNETZONE.LST for more details.

  153.                  Network Policy 13 - It is now made clear and simple how mail

  158.                  info packet since the official nodelist explains all
  159.                  topographical areas and node addresses within the network and
  160.                  is more easily distributed and readily available.
